Webinar Description and Learning Objectives

This purpose of this training is to raise awareness about the importance of the mental health and wellbeing of healthcare workers during the Covid-19 pandemic.  Participants will learn skills and strategies to maintain and/or improve their own mental health status while caring for COVID-19 patients. Participants will also learn about resources to assist healthcare workers.  

 

Outcomes/Objectives
By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:
1. Examine the importance of provider self-care in the prevention of long term trauma.
2. Develop a personal crisis management plan to safely cope in times of crisis.
3. Apply positive coping skills, tools, and resources to promote wellness. 

Target Audience

All healthcare team members.

Continuing Education Credit

To receive a certificate of continuing education, you must electronically sign-in for the session, participate in the entire live internet activity and complete the online evaluation.  You will be able to print your certificate after completing the evaluation.  The evaluation for this session will close two weeks from the date of the webinar.

Physicians

This activity provides 1 hour of Knowledge-type continuing pharmacy education credit.
Pharmacy CPE credits will be delivered via the CPE Monitor system

Nurses

This activity is designated 1.0 contact hour for each hour of participation.

Physician Assistants

The IHS Clinical Support Center has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 1.0 AAPA Category 1 CME credit. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.

Social Workers

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, the Indian Health Service Clinical Support Center is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit.  The IHS Clinical Support Center maintains responsibility for this course. Social workers completing this course receive 1.0 continuing education credit.

Psychologists

Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP) and the IHS Clinical Support Center. The IHS Clinical Support Center maintains responsibility for the content of the program.  Psychologists completing this course receive 1.0 continuing education credit.

Counselors

Many state Counselor boards (including the various types of addiction counselors, mental health counselors, etc.) accept either APA or ASWB approval. See these approvals under Psychologists and Social Workers. Please check with your board to be sure.

Attendance

Participants can select a certificate of attendance, enabling participants to register with licensing boards or associations that have not been preapproved for credits. To apply for credit types not listed above, participants should use the procedure established by the specific organization from which they wish to obtain credit.
